event ChairS

John & Becky Almeida

AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation is pleased to announce John and Becki Almeida will serve as chairs for the 2025 Tinsel & Tidings Event. The Almeidas began their involvement with the B. E. Smith Family Center before there was a B. E. Smith Family Center. Their youngest daughter, Sara, was enrolled in the Early Learning Center (ELC) when Becki was employed with AdventHealth. Their choice to enroll Sara at the ELC was due to the faith-based childcare and education provided and access to on-site childcare.

When Sara began attending the ELC, the Britain Development and ELC were housed in the original Shawnee Mission Medical Center hospital building. Once construction began on the B. E. Smith Family Center, both programs were relocated to the Life Dynamics building. When the B. E. Smith Family Center opened in April 2019, Sara was able to experience the new building, classrooms, and playgrounds. Through all of the moves, one thing remained consistent...the care and devotion of the teachers and staff.

In addition to Sara attending the ELC on a regular basis, the Almeida’s older daughter, Emma, attended during school and summer breaks and the occasional snow day. Both girls have wonderful memories of their experiences and friendships from the ELC and the family still sings the meal prayer the girls learned while attending the ELC.

The Almeida’s support the B. E. Smith Family Center so that other employees have access to faith-based childcare, education, and on-site care. John is owner and partner of MedDevelopment, LLC, a Kansas City based development firm specializing in medical office buildings and hospitals, both locally and nationally. Becki is also part of the MedDevelopment team, serving in the role of office administrative assistant.
